Compare

The 3M™ Clean Sanding Disc 216U features an innovative multi-hole design to improve dust extraction in finishing applications. Our patented multi-hole pattern outperforms products with 5 or 6 holes, enhancing cut performance and significantly extending the disc’s lifespan. The low-density structure and load-resistant coating prevent clogging, ensuring consistent performance.

Made with aluminum oxide, the 216U Clean Sanding Disc is ideal for finishing applications on wood, primers, paints, sealers, varnishes, fiberglass, and plastic. The 3M™ Hookit™ attachment system allows for quick and easy disc changes, meaning it can be reused multiple times throughout the abrasive’s lifespan. For maximum dust extraction, use this disc with the 3M™ Hookit™ Clean Sanding Pad and a vacuum-equipped orbital sander (both sold separately). Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust is not allowed to accumulate on the abrasive surface.

Our patented multi-hole pattern evacuates dust more effectively than 5- or 6-hole products. The design doesn’t require the holes to be aligned with the pad, making disc changes quicker and easier. The open grain structure creates space between the abrasive grains, allowing dust and debris to escape and preventing build-up on the cutting edges. The load-resistant coating ensures that the disc continues to cut even when sanding soft woods, paints, or other materials that would typically clog the disc and hinder sanding performance.

All of these features lead to increased productivity and reduced material consumption. We chose aluminum oxide as the abrasive, a popular choice among industrial professionals due to its fast cut rate and long lifespan. This durable abrasive self-fractures to expose new cutting edges during use, whereas traditional abrasives like garnet wear out quickly. Thanks to its high cutting speed, hardness, and strength, aluminum oxide is widely used in sanding and finishing applications, particularly for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
