Coating Removal Disc

The Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc features an extra coarse silicon carbide abrasive for effectively removing paint and rust from metal surfaces and welds. Combined with the malleable non-woven material, the silicon carbide abrasives remove the coating without gouging, degrading, or damaging the base material, especially on hard surfaces.

The Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc provides more contact area than wire brushes. Our discs offer greater protection since there is no risk of wire breakage, and the Hookit™ backing ensures a secure attachment during use. They effectively remove paint and rust from metal surfaces and welds without scratching, marking, or damaging the base material, especially on hard surfaces. The open mesh material works without overheating and resists loading, allowing these discs to actively cut with consistent results.

These discs contain silicon carbide, a very sharp synthetic material commonly used in low-pressure applications such as paint preparation. Although it wears out more quickly than aluminum oxide, it provides a superior finish. Along with the malleable non-woven material, the silicon carbide abrasives remove coatings without scratching or marking and without damaging the base material, especially on hard surfaces. Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique surface conditioning products that incorporate abrasives into a matrix of non-woven fibers. The combination of abrasives and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that provides consistent results throughout the product’s life. The open mesh material generates less heat and is resistant to loading, preserving the high cutting performance of the abrasive minerals by reducing fiber clogging.
