Scotch-Brite® Surface Conditioning Disc comes in a wide variety of grades and sizes, and is ideal for the first step of cleaning, smoothing, deburring and finishing. The durable non-woven fiber structure adapts well to irregular or contoured surfaces, without deteriorating or damaging the base material.
The open structure fibers do not overheat and withstand loads to allow long operation, while the aluminum oxide abrasives are evenly distributed to achieve a high cutting speed for a consistent finish. The hook-and-loop fit provides the ability to quickly attach and remove the disc in multi-step finishing processes, and keeps the disc secured during use. Our Scotch-Brite® Surface Conditioning Disc uses an aluminum oxide abrasive. Due to its high cutting rate, hardness, strength and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications as well as sanding and finishing. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Our Scotch-Brite® industrial abrasives are the only surface conditioning products with abrasives embedded in nonwoven nylon or synthetic fibers. The combination of the abrasives with the fibers creates an abrasive system that provides consistent results over the life of the product. The open structure material works without heating and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting fiber clogging.
